The safest combination
Chemistry + Biology + Mathematics or Physics
For a student who wants to preserve the widest range of UK Medicine options, Chemistry and Biology are the safest core. Mathematics or Physics is usually the strongest third subject. That is strategic guidance, not a universal rule: medical schools set different subject requirements, so the final combination must be checked against a realistic shortlist.
Do not choose a fourth A level merely to appear more competitive. Secure grades, required sciences, admissions-test preparation and sustained academic engagement matter more than an overloaded timetable.

Required by Oxford and Cambridge Medicine for 2027 entry and by many other medical schools.
Biology
Keeps more Medicine choices open and supplies directly relevant foundations, even where another science could formally satisfy the rule.

Cambridge reports that all A-level entrants in its cited cohorts studied Chemistry and almost all studied at least two of Biology, Further Mathematics, Mathematics and Physics. That is an entrant profile, not an extra universal requirement. College rules remain decisive.

List at least eight plausible medical schools rather than designing the whole plan around one or two names.
Record each school's required subjects, minimum grades, GCSE rules, admissions test and any work-experience guidance from its official course page.
Remove any course for which the subject combination is ineligible; do not assume a strong overall profile repairs a missing prerequisite.
